Getting started

Getting started with RoleCall

Create your business, add your team, and let the assistant help you set up.

Create your account

  1. Open the sign-in page and choose Continue with Google, Continue with Apple, or sign up with an email and a password of at least 12 characters (tap Sign up, then Create Account).
  2. Using Apple? Choose Share My Email, so your team and RoleCall can recognise you.
  3. Want to look around first? Look around first — no account needed opens a demo business.

Create your business

After you sign in for the first time, RoleCall walks you through four short steps:

  1. Start your business: your business name, what kind of business it is, and what you want first. Then Create Workspace. You become the owner.
  2. Where is your business?: your address. Save & set my pin places the pin staff clock in near. You can Skip for now.
  3. Switching from another app?: choose I use Square to bring your team over from Square later, or paste or upload your team list from another app or a spreadsheet (.csv or .txt), then Preview my team and Add to my team. Or choose Starting fresh — skip this.
  4. You're in: every new business gets 14 days of everything free. Choose Set up with the assistant or I'll set things up myself.

Bringing your team over from a pasted list uses the AI assistant, so it works during the trial and on plans that include the assistant.

Add your team

  1. Open Team Roster and choose Add team member (owners and managers).
  2. Fill in their name and the email they will sign in with, plus role, hourly rate and anything else you know. Then Add to team.
  3. They sign in with that same email, using Google, Apple or a password. RoleCall links them to your business automatically when the email matches.

If someone signs in and sees nothing, the email they used doesn't match the roster. Check the spelling in Team Roster. Apple's Hide My Email addresses never match, so ask them to sign in with their real email.

Your setup list

The home screen shows Your setup list: the next things to set up, such as your business details, inviting your team, adding your menu, connecting Square, publishing your first schedule and turning on two-step sign-in. Each row has Open, Later, Skip and a check mark. Plan my setup with the assistant has the assistant interview you and build the list with you.

The assistant

Two round buttons sit at the bottom right of every page: chat, and a microphone for live voice. The assistant can build and publish schedules, clock people in and out, handle time off, count inventory and much more. Anything that changes your business or sends something to people asks for your OK first.

Ask it how RoleCall works, too: it answers from these help articles, and it can send a problem to the MDML team for you.

Still stuck?

Ask the assistant, or email support@mdmltechnologies.com. Our AI assistant answers 24/7, and a person replies Monday–Friday, 9am–5pm Eastern, within 1 business day.
